I would not be surprised if Israel is exaggerating the terrifying details of the attack on Israel. Everybody lies in a war. The fact remains Hamas did attack Israel, and it is an act of war. No way Israel is going to back off till Hamas surrenders. Currently Hamas fighters seem to be hiding behind their women and children.
Have you ever heard of the Hannibal Directive. The Carthaginian general took his own life with poison before the Romans could take him. In Israel's case, it was a green light to kill terrorists even if it meant the deaths of Israeli soldiers or civilians. After the secret directive was exposed, it was supposed to be withdrawn, but it looks to be applied here.
