I don't like the idea of locking the bag for several reasons:-
1. I want the airlines to inspect that bags in the hold in case of bombs. They obviously don't do it now.
2. Many bags have pouches that can't be locked.
3. How you gonna prove your bag was locked if it turns up in Bali or somewhere unlocked or with the lock broken and with a nasty little package inside?
If drug smuggling is a serious problem then the inconvenience of the airline having a look in each bag is nothing.
Next time I go overseas I'm going to insist on opening my bag at check-in and get the name of the check-in attendant as a witness that no obvious "packages" are inside.
