RAP can be treated early with laser coagulation. Later on it makes VGEF inhibitors much less effective. It's present in about 10% of the AMD population. But if it was a similar proportion in both the control and treatment arms it wouldn't be expected to change the study outcome. But it might not have a similar incidence so screening it out should give a more accurate result.
