If by 'test tube' you are referring to the usual scientific method to develop drugs then you're wrong as indeed most 'cures' in the form of effective drugs are developed this way. Ropren isn't an exception, as years of science and 'test-tubes' were employed in developing it. We don't just squeeze the goo out of pine needles and eat it etc. It goes through a highly complicated ten stage extraction and isolation process.
