Südharz Kali GmbH wants to search for deposits at another location in Eichsfeld. As regional manager Babette Winter said, the Küllstedt drilling area is to be explored next. Access to it should be outside Bickenriede.

The municipal council agreed that appropriate routes can be used by Südharz Kali GmbH. However, since construction companies still have to be commissioned, regional manager Babette Winter expects that the work will not begin until the next year.

In the case of the so-called confirmation boreholes, the documents documented from 1975 on the deposit are proven again. If there are enough potash salt deposits, mining could then be carried out again in the Küllstedt area in the future.

At the beginning of the year, such drilling was already carried out in Worbis and Haynrode. Here, too, the existing GDR documents were first confirmed by drilling again. The result was positive. According to plans by Südharz Kali, a new mine is to be built on the Ohmgebirge from 2026.
