I'm in Townsville, looong time resident.
I don't worry about anything much, including cyclones. My house was built to the the relevant standards, is about 10 k from the beach [every K reduces the risk of damage] and I'm tucked under Mt Stuart so I'm not running out to buy a generator. I might check my lamps though.
