Hope you are not trying to mislead. Medibank Private introduced by Fraser did not replace the universal care system introduced by Whitlam. Fraser merely added another private fund probably to create greater competitition with existing private funds and which has since been sold off by the Liberal govt.
Labor's universal healthcare system now known as Medicare still exists today and is the system that the Liberals hated because it was considered a socialist type initiative but has become so accepted by the public the conservatives have failed to extinguish it although they are still trying. Abbott’s co-payment was an attempt to undermine as is the freeze on rebates. The public need to be ever vigilant and any move against medicare would be political suicide.
