Harry Dent is a demographic economist who has written several books and numereous articles in which he also claims that the retirement of the baby-boomers will be partly responsible for a decade long recession/depression.

Dents The Roaring 2000s... and The Next Great Bubble Boom... are great reads (although I'm not sure I agree with everything he says in them.) The peak adoption by up to 80% of people of the newest wave of technological advances (e.g. internet) without the next wave technology becoming an economic force yet (e.g. nano-technology) also contributes to what Dent would say is an economic bubble which will burst late this decade/early next decade.

All bloody interesting stuff that makes one lift your mind out of the here and now to ponder the big, big picture.

Keep up the interesting posts guys. I'm sure I'm not alone here in being interested in the long-term economic view.
