Perhaps they are getting very high interest payments on their money which would cease once the notes were converted to shares. Also, as a lender to RMA perhaps they have a charge thus allowing them to rank above shareholders in the event of a collapse. This way they continue to profit, ensure some level of comfort & can always convert if & when any crisis passes.
