More like a way of life that had the dollar at is core and not the ruble!
Fact is - if you remember and were out of school by then - the world was at war. Communism vs Capitalism. West vs the Communist Bloc.
Good guys vs bad guys!
And the war was fought in a series of surrogate conflicts which - btw - managed to avoid the nuclear holocaust that would have inevitably followed without this deflection.
So the very life that you lead now is predicated ABSOLUTELY upon that era
And you may well seek to trivialise it; you may seek to diminish it; you can even seek to revise it
