@Glug I was lucky throughout my life, never had to have an abortion. But I grew up with the knowledge of the existence of a child who was the result of a Russian soldier raping a distant cousin of mine - I never met this human during his/her childhood - only knew from time to time that the mother had rejected the child and the grandparents were bringing it up - the child was a boy. Years later, on one of my visits to my home country I was told that a person named 'Bianca' wished to meet me as we were related. I duly went to the rendezvous and who should turn up but a tall ungainly looking woman in dowdy dress - called 'Bianca' who was the former 'boy' - seems he/she had always felt out of sorts - and was now happily dressing as woman etc. - There was some talk about childhood experiences, discrimination in a small village, school problems etc. - and for the first time this now 30-something old was happy to be someone totally different, with a different name, but he kept his surname. I recently tried to call a number I thought was his, but only got a very grumpy response. probably gone back into his/her shell again.
My mother had in excess of 10 abortions for economic reasons, no place to live, no income (pre-war Austria things were really bad) - and she was an emotionally stable person - I only found this out about her in her last year of life when i visited her in hospital - you would never have known.
The abortion issue is simply about controlling women, by the conservative and religious nutters in the U.S.A.
