ideallly I would've liked to have seen the full rigorous examination of candidates as per normal ......there just wasn't time for that when Joe pulled out unfortunately ....but you go with the obvious candidate in that circumstance which they did .....if Joe had died rather than pulling out she'd have been POTUS ....she was the obvious choice
as you say , delegates have ticked off on that so no question of being undemocratic .....just not the way it would've been done if sufficient time was available
