I almost never trust brokers and analysts. All the picks I was given in the last 7 to 10 years have been gravely wrong; not that I invested in any of them. But there is a difference of course. We have all the time in the world to research stocks, an analyst has to constantly pump out info and opinions, and often trying to say something more flashy then the last guy to get him and his firm on tv. I almost never hear anything that makes sense from those guys. Just last week I heard an analyst said to buy heavy into Intel, when asked on CNBC why he felt that way, he said it was his "opinion" that PC's and software had run as long as they could and the better part of the population were going to forced to upgrade in the coming months. What sense did that make? I have a computer that is 6 years old, it's not like a car that needs a break or oil change often. He said it wasn't based on any research at all. Yeah, that's how I want to invest my money, zero research, and opinion.
