yet another thread derailed - so finally,

time for me to apologise to you all.

This thread is way off trail but I can't think of a better place to put this apology.

I know many of you are confused as to why I have continued to have dialogue with ed rather than put him on ignore.

Well there is a reason for that.

Very early on I felt that he would continue to derail threads and just not go away unless forced to by our mods. I thought there might have been a chance at bringing him around to a more sane and objective way of thought without the endless baiting and derailing. In short, I failed. I think I was right in that he just won't go away unless forced to - I got that bit right. And also, he actually does get the point when he gets it -- it just isn't very often and sometimes he reverts to his original negative way. He is of course also a serial baiter - and pretty good at it sometimes.

I have decided overnight to finally put him on ignore and to apologise to you all for conversing with the bloke for so long. Unfortunately I think he will continue to derail threads. It wouldn't be so bad if he added value - but from what I see he adds nothing and also his story is rubbery ------- part of which has amused me for a while.

So, to all, my apologies for being complicit in this matter. I won't say I am sorry for trying, I will say I am sorry I failed and put you all through so much discomfort.
