The world economy is in a unique and very difficult position. However it is still my belief that Australia is positioned to be one of the first to recover from this downturn. Just when is the million dollar question that "no one" can answer.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that this turbulence will go on for a long period as more companies/institutions fall by the wayside (revealing their skeletons hidden in the closet).
My portfolio is all very long term. I am lucky in that I got out of my short term more speculative stock in 2007. Not one stock that I hold in my portfolio has fallen below my buy in price, and times like this make me happy that I am an investor not a trader.
