The only thing I can think they mean is no small blending in of Saprolite ore in attempt to increase ore grade but take a hit in acid consumption and retention time.
This is one thing all other lats will do. The problem with this apart from increased acid consumption is the extra impurities to be removed during refining process.
The saprolite is the high Fe, Mg material that is mainly in layered in most lat deposits which has higher Ni grades but much harder to process, it is higher in Fe and Mg so is treated through arc furnaces ( smelted) and forms most of the supply of NPI and Ferro nickel ( Class 2 Ni). The Mg ( magnesium) is not favoured for HPAL as it is an acid neturaliser meaning much more expensive acid is required for leaching which in turn means larger acid plant, more waste out to tails and longer retention.

as per original tweet i would have thought it is obvious that reference is upgrading feed grade through beneficiation before HPAL process which is what Oreology is referring to.
