Hingdog,
Sort of. I was flying in Asia, between KL and Sri Lanka as I recall, and I sat next to a Saudi in a niqab, the one where you can just see the eyes. Once I sat down next to her, she promptly changed seats with her husband who was sitting next to her. I was sat across the aisle from my now ex-wife who was then pregnant and I think that once the husband realised I was traveling with my pregnant wife, he did not feel so threatened (by my good looks, lol). He started chatting to me as did his wife - they had been on their honeymoon in the Maldives, the wife actually had pretty good English, better than the husband and they seemed very happy together. The funny thing was that the husband was showing me his holiday photos on his laptop and his wife was not in any of them. Guess there is no point if you wearing a tent (or he had other photos of her without the tent that, culturally, he could only show to close family and I'm thinking normal clothed photos here, not "honeymoon" ones....).
So yes it's a bit odd, but as a general rule, I don't approach strangers for conversation. Are burkhas oppressive? Yes. Should they be banned? No as I don't think we should ban individual clothing choices. Some people are offended by women walking the street in bikinis. Should we ban that as well?

Bikini`s unless your talking to their arse instead of looking at it--what has that got to do with the Burka Complete crap--put some sense into the debate---do not wear bungie smuggler`s as they offend--it`s why OUR BORDER`S where so defenseless when the left where in power--lack of common sense !!!
