it has nothing to do with whether I'm happy or not - go back to Machiavelli and way before that if you like....
politics is the art of the possible, and to achieve that, both principles and corners have to be cut, never can every demand be satisfied....
having had a little taste of such things at council level, you'd be surprised how easy it becomes to say one thing to one person and the complete opposite to another in the next instant.... it's just the nature of the game...
so although having contempt for those who play the game, I fully realise that it is only 'those' sorts of people who can play it.... if politics was left to 'straight' bleeding hearts, we would be in a far worse predicament....
to prevent absolute excesses we have elections when the real baddies can voted out - which does occasionally happen.....
