re: gold and metal detecting
Great to know there are a few more out there who do the metal detecting .... I have been doing it on and off since 1982. Found a piece of gold the size of a cent just three miles from the Melbourne GPO in Studley Park. Came as a bit of a surprise. Most of the time it is just an excuse to get out and enjoy the fresh air and the peace of the bush.
The detectors are a lot better now, and work OK on the highly mineralised ground that is common in the Victorian goldfields.
Must confess, my best gold discovery by far is OXR.
