This is like the Apple "Vintage" label where Apple won't touch iPhones/ laptops/tablets that have not been sold for 5 years.
And besides, European cars manufactured after 2000 were built for lower fuel consumption which in part meant lighter components that compromised durability/reliability and simply means higher R&M costs.
This also applies to other prestige European models, IMO.
