Has Oil Migrated to SNE 1 ?, page-6

They r drilling to test 2 separate petroleum systems, carbonate platforms (ie SNE, Buried hill etc) & deeper fans (ie North, Central Fan).

Carbonate platforms r shallower & have a geologically older sequence, ie Albian clastics & Aptian Carbonates (AA). This play appears to b a different kind of trap sealed off by sediments on & a series of faults to the west in deeper waters (ie Structural trap with stratigraphic control).

The stacked clastics in 'Fan-1' depocentre r geologically younger (ie Santonian) & have a different source with the sediments transported into deeper waters for burial & diagenesis etc. More like a stratigraphic trap.

At this point its a just a theory that the HC's could have migrated updip or had a second source for each type of play (ie Platform & Fan) & accumulated in the Platform trap.

We need more confirmation from the drilling results & wireline logs. Challenge here is we don't have the benefit of having numerous wells drilled to provide control over the formation tops, hence the rationale to drill both type of 'plays'.

FWIW's their Sept preso has numerous slides dedicated to the elevation model & seismics, worth a look while we wait on the rig move & re-entry.

Fan-1 is prolly derisked whilst SNE-1 is work in progress. Its pointless to worry abt the oil quality when there's no data to support its presence at this point in SNE-1, as each well has a different fundamental hypothesis to test. Hope this helps.
