This is my opinon only, so.....
Redemptions are part of it but they have only been small and begun in the last year. In the 70's they were much greater.
If you look at the share allocation percentage recommended for individual clients by the investment industry it is over 75% (in the US) which is heaps above the long term average.
As with the analysts, the funds have remained very long all the way down (otherwise they would be outperforming the indicies?). They have not learnt yet & are lucky the clients have yet to walk in any significant fashion.
