most hold the banks but when people speak of good long term holds l think of the likes of RMD, TNE, CSL etc as they increase dividends. (as Rudi often says l bought CSL for the great yield). even the 2nd tier stocks like BKW, SOL, APA etc increase dividends while capital growth is slow. and if in doubt why not buy an index fund like IVV - despite the occasional cap fall over a decade they show cap growth. still some love the banks and that's fine they will recommence divs in time and will bounce around a bit.
