I don't think many of you understand how the brokers and analysts work.

The fact is that the pool is small, and apart from BHP, Rio and bigbanks, who would have a dedicated analysts, as you go down the market cap list the analysts has to cover more and more stock, and they think in sectors, Gold down, sell everything we have in gold. Transports up, buy transports.

There is no ay they get the subtleties except after quite a bit of time when the backroom guys get a chance to rejig the thinking. This doesn't happen in a few hours as they have plenty to do. The easiest thing is to knee jerk sell or buy followed by more sober assessment.

As for the level of detail by CW, fugetaboudit. There are 200+ gold stocks.

If you are reacting to the minutiae you are out of your depth, unless you have placed stink bid buys, or hugely optimistic sells, in which case the fluctations are a benefit, otherwise a pain.
