Those are just the short trades on the current day, but do not necessarily represent short interest as a trend. Shorts can be opened and closed during the same trading day for a variety of reasons. For this, looking at that data is not as reliable to represent a longer term bet against a stock, which can again, be a variety of reasons too.
This is why we consider the T+4 short interest non-aggregated data as more important to observe in terms of garnering a "true" perspective of a bet against a stock (generally speaking).
