    ...not to mention recent rumblings from the Fairy Ruddfather's gov't mandating our local banks hold more gov't issued treasuries as their reserve base.

    I note with interest Westpacs recent aeeforts to raise capital in the retail marketplace. Pretty high interest rates being offered on term deposits at the moment - hmmm.
