    martini007,

It is the policies of the parties that matters more than who their politicians see, talk to, mix with. Politicians mix with people from all works of life. The example you gave of seeing "Whitlam & Keating prodigy at many well heeled social occasions", on other occasions they would have been mixing with other less well to do people in other functions.

    You also said:

" .... they certainly looked at home and very comfortable there!"

Nothing wrong with that. You were seeing their people and social skills at work.

Within the Labor Party, there are people from all walks of life, from different background, different profession. Whitlam is a lawyer, a QC, so is Neville Wran. Keating had a more traditional working man back ground.

You seem to feel that Labor Party people should not be mixing with the wealthy. Such a narrow view of contemporary political parties and a real lack of understanding of contemporary politics.

It is the parties' policies that matter, as they reflect the collective philosophical beliefs of the party concerned.

Based on your expressed sentiment, no person from poor families should be allowed to be the CEO or in senior position of a company.
