DJ AUSTRALIA PRESS: ACCC May Announce ULL Decision Next Week



SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) is expected to hand down a ruling on pricing for competitor access to Telstra Corp.'s (TLS) network as early as next week, the Australian newspaper reports Thursday.


Without citing sources, the report says that despite appeals from Telstra, Communications Minister Helen Coonan is unlikely to intervene in the final decision on what Telstra charges rivals to access its raw copper wires, or the unbundled local loop.


The ACCC is likely to reject Telstra's price offers, the newspaper says.


Telstra has claimed proposals put forward by the ACCC could wipe hundreds of millions of dollars off its revenues over coming years.
