Dacata, maybe you should look a little further into this? Just take an example of an Australian company doing business in China . . . why should that company do a deal in US dollars? Frankly over the last week, the stability of the China/Asussie exchange rate ahs been in sharp cpontrast to the dolalr exchange rate to either the RMB or the Aussie dollar.
I believe it is inevitable that companies will start to question which exchange risks they take, and which they do not. The US dollar will lose appeal in that process.
I know of one reasonably sized Aussie company that is doing exactly what I have described above. The only deal they still strike in US dollars is where the original goods eminate from the US.
It don't need a lot more to start acting differently and the US dollar will start to become irrelevant.
