The right only see the short term cost of anything. Just like the climate debate. The wage paid to teachers and emergency services workers filters though the economy almost immediately. Delaying or denying this cost places a greater cost on the final outcomes. The uneducated child is a far greater burden on society than the relatively low wage impost. We see it all the time on the streets of our towns and cities. A good education reduces crime.
Another fact which is not commonly known is that the pay rate for ALL these workers places them at the higher end and excluded from any welfare eligibility BUT the lower end of the scale compared to their non-government counterparts. In other words they miss out on any additional Centrelink type assistance.
