At what stage are you prepared to call the existing policies a failure.
The investors in plantations, subsidised by taxpayers (probably by about 50%) have still lost most if not all their investment.
Gunns, once a sound Tasmanian institution is in big trouble, if not for financial ?sleight of hand? they would be broke.
The people of Tasmania have had their forests and amenities destroyed.
Forestry Tasmania, ie. Tasmanian people is still owed royalties of ??? by Gunns ( who knows how much as this is commercial in confidence) with bugger all chance of being repaid.
Taxpayers stuck with a $300million superannuation bill by a financially destitute Forestry Tas.
Tourism has suffered, the Tasmanian ?brand? is on the nose.
Agricultural land converted to plantations and small communities decimated.
Waterways compromised by pollutants.
Forest contractors led up the garden path, ?investing? in useless machinery in a dead end industry.
Who knows what damage done to our native fauna.
And after all that it is all but impossible to buy a decent piece of hardwood in Tasmania because it has all been chipped.
How is it you cant see this????
