I know that I am with this posting going a bit too far from our present PBT434. However, I am almost the only one posting you need to stand what I post.
So I tried to find how macular degeneration and the function of the mitochondrion are related to explain why PBT434 could possibly help dry macular degeneration so that Mr. Kempler could start co-operation with Opthea. It looks like for this purpose proline (an amino acid) is needed to produce proline-derived mitochondrial intermediates ( www.jbc.org/content/early/2019/05/19/jbc.RA119.007983.long ). Later I found that proline induced the highest respiratory rates ( energy production) compared to other substrates tested when mitochondrial physiology in mosquito flight muscle was studied ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30974092).
So it looks to me that when energy demand is very high as it is in the macula and in mosquito flight muscles we need special fuel, proline to give the energy needed. There may be many different things hampering the usage of proline in the retina (macula) mitochondria but iron overload could be one possibility.
