Havieron

Nice move by Newcrest today obviously driven by the explosion in the Gold price.

Just for disclosure I don't hold any NCM stock (yet anyway) but have a substantial investment in Greatland Gold (Newcrest's farm-in partner).

Have any of you Newcrest guys been keeping an eye on the developments at Havieron - as you know Newcrest reached the end of stage 2 at the end of March and now own 40% of the asset. They have been drilling hell for leather there right through the heat of the summer and the next quarterly results are due on the 30th April and everyone here in the UK is expecting another set of bumper results.

I have been doing some research using the Sentinel satellite that passes over the Havieron drill site every 5 days. We noticed last week that NCM had created a new path through one of the sand dunes to start drilling in a new cluster of holes further SW that the existing drilling had been taking place. Have a look back through my Twitter feed - most of the info is one there but it's looking more and more like Havieron is going to be a very substantial deposit which would help to get Telfer out of the hole it is in especially with the hedging policy which is hurting them more now with every dollar increase in the gold price.
