Right again logco. God only knows how much fresh water flows into the sea from Lake Argyle. Ideal farming country for any cotton grower on this planet, if it takes incentives; do it. Imagine a fresh water pipeline right through the guts of Australia, follow the Ghan rail line. Plenty water for all, farmers, mining, residencies, new industries, tourism, the list is endless & not a drop removed from our water tables ( probably enough to enhance them). As already stated; good water management, simples imho.
