    By your definition,(atmospheric carbon) the carbon in natural gas, because it s a fossil fuel, is adding carbon into the system.Where as the carbon in bio-methane is carbon already in the system. Removing the carbon, storing it as solid graphite would make the use of natural gas as the feedstock, a carbon neutral process. Removing the carbon from biogas is effectively removing it from the atmosphere making the process carbon negative. This has been explained many times by Hazer. So how come it's now only carbon neutral?
