I thought they had given up on completing this part of the project and qualifying for the remaining funding but in a recent presentation they made it clear that they did intend to satisfy ARENA requirements and collect the remaining funding, which left me wondering how they would do this.

The wording of this statement in the last Quarterly gave me a clue:

" During the Quarter, Hazer’s team also progressed engineering workto enable installation of the commercial reactor design this year.This reactor concept has been developed to complement the smallerscale reactor successfully tested in the CDP through 2024 and willprovide hot operation data to validate larger scale commercialprojects of more than 20ktpa of hydrogen production per train."

Why no say replace instead of complement?

The MK II was supposed to be both different and hopefully better, but still a drop in replacement as far as I understood. But I think that in order to advance both the MK II and satisfy the ARENA requirements that they are going to operate both in series, with the original reactor taking some of the output from the MKII and functioning as a purifier stage before feeding it into the Fuel Cells. The extra piping, valves and work associated with this is the reason they need a contractor to do this all for them, and the extra time required. I would expect that they will to able to operate the MKII with or without the original actor in series.

Probably totally wrong but at least a plausible explanation for the extra time and work that the MKII reactor now requires. We will see what happens.

It is an interesting word complement. My understanding is they intend to install the mk2 next to the fluid bed, likely because the fluid bed was so positively received by industry.
