I telephoned Statewide Recycling in Stawell.
They told me they pay $200 per tonne for PASS disposal.
plus transport costs which vary depending on the size of the load (which is deposited in skip bins)
They said they do everything by the book (which would be encouraging if I believed every disposer and transporter did the same thing). They also said that they could believe that some disposers did manage to just pay 20$....but they did everything by the book ...@ $200 per tonne.
I can imagine that the amount of PASS that may occur in Metro Melbourne will need to be transported by a big outfit, who doesn't want to get caught dumping in landfill sites that are not equipped for 20$ per tonne. The fines could be prohibitive.
Meanwhile there will be more news out about the areomagnetic survey which has been completed I am told.
