Hi Smacko, Below are the instructions that Alpha was king enough to provide as i was having the same problem as you. I hope they help:
With Metastock you should also a copy of a program called The Downloader.
Select Convert from the Tools option.
To download the ASX data from Hotcopper you will have created a file somewhere. I set mine up in a C drive file called Hotcopper ASX Data and the file is called daily1.
So in Source the options will be ASCII Text, Folder (whatever you set it up in), and then Browse for the file you created.
Then in Destination select Metastock and the primary file for Metastock data which is usually something like C:\Shares
Then select Options and Destination. In here make sure that the option Append Data to end of File and Replace matching dates is selected.
Then make sure the three boxes Include Open interest, Create New Files and most importantly Traverse Destination Folders are ticked.
Then click Apply and you are ready to role.
Each day just click any of the HotCopper Data ad links in the HC site, Select Download Data, leave your user name and password saved, click on the days data you wish to download and download to the file.
Then open The Downloader, Select Convert and click the OK button.
