In the Charlie Teo, Neurosurgeon's biography "Life in His Hands" it is said that the brains of professional musicians have more grey matter than amateur and non-musicians in the three areas dealing with motor skills, auditory stimulation and visual and spatial data. The younger a child takes up music, the greater the development in the auditory cortex.

A German Doctor found that if he played music during a certain clinical procedures, he could reduce the patients drug dosage by half because the biochemistry of their blood was altered.

Music helps in Therapy and in lifting ones spirits. I've heard, "if a person doesn't love music, he's souless."
