"Would they be prepared to mortgage their house for drilling”What’s the answer you’relooking for? “Hell yes!, no probably a measured yes so they’vethought about it a lot more, it’s all about conviction, it’s how much theyreally believe in the project” QIs it worth it for the share price or geology? “Yeah you can be too in love with the project as well and maynot be as objective and that happens a lot, it’s a sort of a way of measuringpeople’s convictions, how much they think that it’s out of the ordinary and howmuch they’re prepared to put on the line too because I’ve found a lot of companieswhen it’s been the times when things have got tough and people have made thosehard decisions and the good discoveries have often come from that” Q What would be a red flag? “A red flag would be if they’d been doing the same thing for3 or 4 years and not making progress because as many people who believed insomething and they’re just beating their head against a brick wall and throwinggood money after bad so you’ve got to be very clinical about it, you got to bean optimist as an exploration geologist but you’ve got to be ruthless as well,you’ve got to be prepared to walk. An old friend of mine used to say you’ve gotto explore enough to find something, not so much to make sure you don’t misssomething” Q Not to drill to kill it? “I don’t think you want to drill to kill it because you’llgo broke doing that, you’ve got to be prepared to walk, you’ve got to beprepared to define the stage that you’re prepared to walk which is usually earlyand should leave you feeling pretty uncomfortable”
