Alan Kohler.
Let's be clear.
Alan Kohler is a media personality. He's a likeable chappie who looks good on a television screen.
Like all major media "faces" he has a team behind him. No doubt they are people of intelligence and integrity. Insightful? That's debatable. There's no doubt that what he has to say has research and thoughtfulness behind it.
And that's the problem. Any contrarian worth his salt will tell you that media commentators/newletter-writers, etc have a poor record. Going opposite to what they say will usually, in the long run, prove profitable.
Kohler's record isn't a good one. He was late (very late) to the party in the GFC. More recently he publicly announced that he was a big grizzly bear. If he'd gone bearish back in July 2011, he might have some respect.
A near sighted cricket batsman might play it as he sees it too. But he won't make many runs.
Don't take any notice of him or any other high profile media personality where the stock market is concerned.
