Alan Kohler's Eureka report No294 22 Dec 2011 title page included the term "Christmas fear" where he told his membership that he'd just reduced his share holdings from 70% to 30% and was looking to take more off the table.
He also contributed a piece in this edition "Don’t risk it on the ASX" suggesting the ASX200 was about ready for an intense drop and "Now is the time to be wary of equities and nurture your cash. The worst you could suffer is missing the beginning of a rally." He like many were reacting to the headlines.
Ironically he has timed the market perfectly if you are after a negative correlation. His followers have indeed missed the beginning (and usually the quickest %) part of the rally. Like all market commentators/gurus his subs aren't likely to explode following such calls.
