Iceland's geothermal resource lies much closer to the surface due to it being derived from volcanic activity, rather than the case of the Cooper basin being due to heating of granites ( and any surrounding water body) due to radiactive decay. The nature of the heated water that GRK are targetting in their newly acquired GEL's are closer to the surface and would possibly be utilized in the more conventional geothermal production, as in Iceland, and many other parts of the world.
This may ultimely be to GRK's great advantage, possibly being able to provide cheaper electricity than EGS in the same region, thus somewhat off-setting the cost of transmission to the grid. A clever strategy that if brought to fruition will put GRK in a very marketable position.
