I suspect many of the differences in opinion arise because we're not all thinking of the same timeframes.
Mine is a long term view, so Skol your TLS example over my timeframe of say 3 - 5 years looks pretty sad compared to gold.
For me gold has been a very effective way of protecting a % of my capital. That's a simple fact and I don't think it's time to bail yet.
