maybe it is a bad term, i picked this up from another trader a while back.
the term whipsaw was used when explaining the effect of quick/voltatile movements in tick chart effecting an indicator to react too quickly, thus changing the reading of the indicator several times in a given time frame. i.e candlestick.
an example of this is the use of ema's where a 2 will react so quickly during a candlestick that it will appear to give an indicator and change the reading of that indicator on a second reading on the same candlestick.
