I've been in touch with the ICQ office and they have confirmed:
1) Of the three sites houselist.my, boatlist.my and bikelist.my, they own the third one only and plan to activate the site however are unable to provide any time line.
2) In regards to the other two sites, they do not own them and have no interest in either the property or boating verticals.
Interesting that someone is taking a copycat strategy in Malaysia for houses and boats. I am sure the next few years will bring about plenty of competition in online classifieds in Asia. ICQ need to make sure with their small headstart, capital and knowledge, they stay ahead of all the new competition that will emerge. It is the main risk shareholders need to watch I believe.
Any comments?
