another thing you can do is sell the call at the same time you buy. For example you buy 1000 WBC shares and simultaneously write the option. You get a debit for the share purchase and brokerage and a credit for the option. This means you get a discount on the shares if the option expires without being exercised. It is about 90 % certain it will expires worthless and you get the money.
