Hi NRI, I think the reason is because the immediate population impacted by potential increase in radiation from mining are those in Narsaq. But the population is dying off due to downturn in their traditional meanings to earn a living. If no one lives there then there will be no opposition to uranium mining, as it's too far from other towns to make a difference. Compare to dying off slowly with no hope in sight, people tend to take a chance.
