hence the difference between 'security' and 'defence'

it's been my belief for a long time that we need a 'security' department far more than a 'defence' department

and when we have something which we speak of as
    National security
PM&C provides high quality policy advice and support to the Prime Minister and Cabinet on national security issues.

but - look what it thinks is 'national security' ------------------

to me - it's straight from the department of NFI

This includes through the coordination of government activities, policy development, and program delivery support relating to:
    • Border Security
    • Counter Foreign Interference
    • Counter Terrorism
    • Critical Infrastructure
    • Cyber Security
    • Defence Capability
    • Defence Industry
    • Law Enforcement
    • Intelligence Policy
    • Irregular Migration
    • Strategic Policy.

Actual security comes from a whole range of things that develop one's nation - right from having a housed, fed, healthy, educated populace - to things like foreign aid, foreign investment etc etc.

look at that list above -------------- it's almost all about keeping people out and threats

not a zot about actually building a secure nation

I don't think Canberra would know security if they fell into a bucket of it
