So my accountant advised me I have to pay the medicare surcharge as Mrs rebel and I dont have hospital cover. Hmm.. so i had a quick scan and chose a cover which costs $258.15 a fortnight and includes "extras" not just hospital . This is where I think its a scam !!
So I proceeded with it , then today I was looking closer and looked at the "extras " area of what is covered etc...
I noticed in the limits section that its a combined amount accross all areas is $1000 a year so for both of us its $2000 MAXIMUM claim a year .
I then got a quote without extras and see price below... If I did claim the maximum and so did Mrs Rebel we would have saved a whopping $400 .... based upon what it costs extra, and they only pay 60% of a bill , so we need to spend $3333 in health costs to receive the 60% back and save us $400. I think I will cancel the extras and wing it like I have already ... The hospital cover cost I think is less than my medicare surcharge for not having hospital cover .
